Frequently Asked Questions
RF-X is a video switcher. It automatically selects the best input with the highest video quality percentage. There is no radio inside RF-X.
Every setup is different, and there’s no single “correct” placement. Receiver positioning should be determined by your environment and location. In situations where physical obstacles may block the transmitter, ensure that at least one receiver maintains a clear line of sight to the transmitter. In high-RF-congestion environments, spacing redundant receivers evenly can help improve overall signal reliability.
RF-X is compatible with all models of Bolt 4K, Bolt 6, and Ranger Series.
No. RF-X is designed to be fully plug-and-play. Simply connect your redundant receivers to the SDI inputs and your monitor to the SDI output. RF-X automatically selects and switches to the best available video signal. The web interface, accessed via Ethernet, is optional and can be used for RF-X firmware updates or to monitor video quality across each connected receiver.
Yes. It’s an auto-switcher, it will fall back on another viable signal.
No. You must use all Bolts or all Rangers. You can’t mix and match.
Yes, multiple RF-X units can be connected together via single-mode fiber using the SFP port.
RF-X is compatible with SDI fiber SFP modules, sold separately. Distances are based on SFP Module and can vary.
